The third and final Annual Pass expansion, River of Blood, which was released on December 6th, 2022, added Tala Yazdi, a former Cultist member and Derek's older sister as the 12th playable Cleaner Players who want to play this character in Swarm have to play at least 5 matches to use him in that mode. Like Heng and Sharice, Dan will only be available for owners of the respective expansion.
With Children of the Worm, released on August 30th, 2022, another Cleaner joined the team: Dan is the 11th playable character. For Swarm, these can be either be used immediately for DLC owners or being unlocked by completing Accomplishments. These two characters are available for the Campaign for owners of the expansion. On March, 1st 2022, Turtle Rock Studios announced more details regarding the first expansion Tunnels of Terror which introduced two new Cleaners on April 12th, 2022: Heng and Sharice.

With Patch 1.03 that got released on November 11th, 2021, all eight original Cleaners are available for new players.īefore the patch, players had to complete the first chapter of act 1, The Devil's Return, in order to unlock Seo-yeon, Hoffman, Jim and Karlee. Players can choose which Cleaner they control in the lobby, or be automatically assigned to a Cleaner that is not being controlled by a player when they join a game that is already in progress. They also have unique abilities and perks. Each playable Cleaner has their own unique appearance, personality, dialogue, and backstory, making them easier to identify at a distance.
